Now, dear ladies, gentlemen & Traffelers, we present the five not so well-known places in New York that deserve a lot more attention (or not too much as then they wouldn’t be so special anymore, right?)…
Mmuseumm
A really small museum calls a freight elevator its home as the exhibition showcases everything “dismissed, overlooked, or ignored” in the world. There’s a lot of original, quirky objects such as a shoe that was thrown at George W. Bush in Iraq, or a collection of New Delhi mosquitoes that were killed during their bloodsucking activity.
Dream House
Located in TriBeCa, this is a unique art project that meshes together constantly beating sound waves with neon lights, resulting in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that can’t be found anywhere else. The place was opened after a married artist duo decided to put everything into Dream House they had learned after being 40 years in the business.
Please Don’t Tell
Being a classic speakeasy, you don’t just see the sign and walk into the bar. First, you must enter the phone booth, and wait until you are actually allowed through … the wall! If you have ever wanted to feel like a secret agent, then this is your lucky chance!
Tannen’s Magic Store
The oldest magic shop in New York! This place has been continuously operating since 1925, featuring an array of magic canes, grab-the-rabbit hats, and even invisibility paint. Definitely a fun place to look around for a quarter of an hour.
The High Line
This used to be an absolutely awful elevated railway full of drug addicts, pigeons, and … squirrels! Today, The High Line is one of the coolest public parks in New York City, but sadly many tourists miss out as they only visit the Central Park. Do yourself a favour, and visit this awesome green construction too.
