7 Completely CRAZY Things Tourists Have Done
Jumping into the fountain!
One Australian tourist was trying to recreate the scene from La Dolce Vita, by jumping into the Trevi Fountain in Rome. He was fined 140 euros after bystanders alerted the police. The whole incident was filmed and photographed by numerous bystanders. It turns out that this has happened more than once and Rome’s authorities are used to dealing with misbehaving tourists.
Stealing a penguin!
Two Welsh tourists were arrested after breaking into a theme park in Australia and stealing a penguin. The penguin named Dirk was later released into a canal but the incident was luckily spotted by some locals who called the police. They also decided to swim with the dolphins and let off a fire extinguisher in a shark enclosure. They were each fined 1000 Austrailian dollars.
Taking naughty nudies!
Two American sisters were deported from Cambodia in February 2015 after taking nude photos of themselves inside one of the sacred temples of Angkor Wat. For example, they supposedly lowered their pants to their knees and took pictures of their buttocks. The girls were tried and convicted on pornography and indecency before they were deported to Thailand.
Earlobe maniac!
A Finnish tourist was arrested in 2008 on suspicion of trying to steal an earlobe from one of Easter Island’s famous statues. A woman had seen him rip off the earlobe, that later fell down and broke. Incensed at the damage, the mayor of the island said he wished the tourist would have his earlobe clipped off in retaliation.
Climbing the Brooklyn Bridge!
A French tourist was arrested in New York after climbing on one of the cables on the Brooklyn Bridge in order to get the “perfect photo”. The police said he climbed over a fence on the pedestrian walkway of the bridge and then walked up a beam over Manhattan-bound traffic.
Sleeping on the luggage belt!
A drunk Norwegian tourist at Rome’s Fiumicino airport was found passed out on the luggage belt. The man was supposed to fly back to Oslo. Being intoxicated, he laid down on the luggage belt and fell asleep. He didn’t wake up after he passed through the x-ray machine. A security guard saw the man on the monitor and alerted the authorities.
Riding a crocodile!
A crazy Australian tourist decided to end a night of drinking by trying to ride a crocodile. The tourist broke into a reptile park and climbed onto the back of a crocodile called Fatso. Luckily for him, Fatso was calm until the man tried to sit on his back. The crocodile got annoyed and bit his leg. The tourist was lucky enough to escape the teeth alive.
